Xerox Launches MFP, Color Printers for Small Businesses

Print services specialist Xerox announced the launch of a variety of multifunction printers (MFPs) aimed at the small to medium-size business (SMB) market, including the WorkCentre 6605 Color Multifunction Printer, which features built-in color technology, including Pantone Color and True Adobe PostScript 3 for marketing materials. Engineered to have a space-saving footprint, the 6605 also includes the ability to fax expense reports and scan human resources (HR) forms. The MFP can also produce sales materials, such as brochures, fliers and presentations.

An optional wireless adapter makes access available anywhere in the office, and a large color touch screen makes for user-friendly navigation, where users can view everything from documents in the queue to toner levels. A 550-sheet paper tray allows for print speeds of up to 36 pages per minute (ppm), and scanned files can be automatically shared via email or network folder, or saved directly to a USB memory device when they need to go portable.

Rounding out the package is document protection via Secure Print, which requires a personal identification number (PIN) for users to release documents. A front-panel PIN code authentication also protects access to device features. The printer uses Xerox’s oil-free EA Toner, chemical toner prepared by Emulsion Aggregation, or a chemical process used to “grow” very small, uniform particle sizes from even smaller (sub-micron) size toner components. The process results in sharp fine lines and text, faster warm-up times, higher reliability and improved print quality.

The Phaser 6600 Color Printer offers a print resolution of up to 600 x 600 x 4 dots per inch (dpi) and includes Photo Mode to give images and graphics deeper, richer colors for improved vibrancy. Other features include automatic duplex printing, optional security features to protect documents, a main 550-sheet paper tray that holds a full ream of paper and an optional second tray, which increases total capacity up to 1,250 sheets, and optional WiFi and Xerox CentreWare IS, which allows remote device administration to be handled from any networked computer’s browser.

Smaller firms can also opt for Xerox’s Phaser 7100 Tabloid Color Printer, which offers speeds of up to 30 ppm and true 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. The estimated retail prices for the WorkCentre 6605 Color Multifunction Printer is $999, while the Phaser 6600 Color Printer is $549 and the Phaser 7100 Tabloid Color Printer is $1,599. “SMBs who want to maximize their IT investment will find the right combination of print quality, affordability, reliability, and ease of use with these devices,” Ann Priede, vice president of publications and services, with managed print services specialist Photizo Group said in a prepared statement.
