Xerox Monochrome Printers Aimed at Small Businesses

Print solutions specialist Xerox announced the release of two black and white printers aimed at small and midsize businesses (SMBs), the Phaser 3610 printer and the WorkCentre 3615 multifunction printer (MFP), which will retail for $599 and $999, respectively, and are currently available worldwide.

With a nod to the mobile worker, Apple AirPrint, available on both devices, lets users print email and documents directly from their mobile iOS device when connected to the office network. And when off site, workers can use Xerox PrintBack to have printed documents waiting for them upon returning to the office.

The Phaser 3610 printer, like its more expensive brother, offers optional WiFi connectivity and can be managed remotely from a networked computer through a Web browser. Adding up to three optional trays let businesses expand the work to fit different paper sizes and stocks, or extend media capacity during peak workloads.

The WorkCentre 3615 MFP can program the next job while others are in progress. The MFP can also scan legal-size pages so bound documents don’t have to be disassembled. With a print speed of up to 47 pages per minute (PPM), the printer boasts booklet printing, collation, custom page size, fit-to-page, the ability to print from a USB memory device, scaling, secure print, toner save mode and the ability to create watermarks.

The 3615 also comes with 1GB of standard memory, a duty cycle of up to 110,000 images per month, and a one-year warranty. The printer offers a maximum copy resolution of 600×600 dots per inch (dpi) and offers a scan-to-USB memory function, scan to email with lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) function, and numerous fax features including broadcast and delayed fax capabilities.

Secure Print is a standard feature on both printers to keep confidential documents away from unintended recipients, and the devices also use Xerox EA Toner, which the company claims reduces CO2 emissions during manufacturing by an estimated 28 percent compared to conventional toners. Both can also be equipped with up to three additional 550-sheet paper trays for a total of up to 2,350 sheets to manage heavy workloads.

For additional convenience, both devices have extra-high capacity toner cartridges so less time is spent reloading supplies. Paper, and its related costs, can be reduced with the automatic two-sided printing, while the one-sided option prints multiple pages on one sheet–a useful option when sharing presentations.

In addition, the free Xerox eConcierge program simplifies every aspect of tracking and ordering printer supplies for your Xerox, HP, Lexmark, Brother and other brands of networked printers. As long as the user continues ordering supplies through eConcierge, the company will provide free service coverage for the life of the Xerox printer.

The Supplies Assistant desktop application sends an automatic alert when supplies are low and it’s time to order replacements. The application automatically identifies each printer model and its associated supplies, and it also provides options such as standard- and high-capacity toner cartridges, when available.
