Object storage specialist Caringo and CTERA Networks, a provider of hybrid cloud storage and data protection solutions, announced that the companies have integrated Caringo’s CAStor object storage software with CTERA Cloud Attached Storage gateways and CTERA Portal to provide cloud storage solutions.
The Caringo object storage platform powered by CAStor is software that is designed to enable big storage for unstructured data by utilizing any x86 server hardware or any combination of hard drive type or size. Service providers using Caringo as storage infrastructure for their cloud storage service can scale incrementally up or down a single hard drive at a time and can upgrade and retire hardware without service downtime. In addition, Caringo’s management, optimization and self-healing technology offers a unified storage system with a single namespace that can scale to billions of objects and petabytes per location and can be managed by a single system administrator.
“Partnering with Caringo pairs our innovative CTERA Portal with the market-leading object storage platform,” said Liran Eshel, CEO and co-founder of CTERA Networks. “Their highly automated approach, combined with our cloud storage gateways, enables a cloud storage solution that can easily grow and deliver data protection and file sharing with LAN-speed performance and end-to-end security.”
CTERA Portal allows cloud service providers to offer hybrid on-premises/cloud storage and data protection solutions to their small and midsize business (SMB) customers and based on their cloud infrastructure of choice. Service providers can create service plans, centrally managing all aspects of backup and recovery, synchronize cloud and local drives, subscriber on-boarding, service provisioning, status monitoring, billing and reporting. The CTERA Portal also works with the company’s line of cloud storage gateway appliances and managed agents.
“The key characteristics to look for in a cloud storage solution are the ability to easily and cost-effectively manage infrastructure and service utilization,” said Mark Goros, CEO at Caringo. “We achieve this through our partnership by combining Caringo’s highly automated and self-optimizing object storage with CTERA’s robust cloud storage gateways and portal.”
Jonathan Kearns, executive vice president of operations at CloudSilo, a cloud service provider based in Tucson, Ariz., said his company is looking forward to the opportunity to scale up its cloud storage offering with the integrated CTERA-Caringo solution. “With the combined solution, we’ll be able to offer cloud storage services to a growing number of businesses and channel partners, and meet demand as it grows,” he said.
