Hitachi Global Storage Technologies this week announced a 300GB enterprise-class drive, spinning at 10,000 rpm, with either Ultra320 SCSI or 2Gbps Fibre Channel interfaces.
The UltraStar 10K300 breaks the capacity record for the SCSI drive, set over three years ago by Seagate with its Barracuda 180, a 7,200rpm drive with a capacity of 181GB. Seagate, however, discontinued the Barracuda 180 in 2002.
