Corporate e-mail storage vendor LiveOffice of Torrance, Calif. said June 21 that it has added fully integrated, Web-based mailbox management and business continuity features to its flagship product, AdvisorMail, which is aimed at the financial services market.
The new functions in AdvisorMail 5.0 provide continuous user access to fresh and archived message data, even if the in-house mail server suffers an outage or other disruption, LiveOffice product manager Mary Cilva said.
In the case of an outage, the in-house mail accounts automatically switch over to Web-based accounts—without changing addresses, Cilva said.
Users then have complete e-mail functionality as well as access to current and archived messages from any Internet-connected PC, just as they would with their regular accounts, she said.
AdvisorMails new Mailbox Management functionality also aims to help organizations improve server performance and reduce storage costs, Cilva said.
When mail volume reaches predefined thresholds, this feature facilitates the automatic offloading of data from the in-house mail server to more cost-effective storage media in the highly secure LiveOffice data center.
Once the data is moved, users can still access items in the mail archive based on permissions or specific company retention policies, ensuring no interruption in business workflow, Cilva said.
The service also includes message backup capabilities, which help to remove that burden from internal IT staff, Cilva said.
When it comes to deploying an effective message archiving system and plan, two of the biggest issues that companies face are mailbox management and business continuity, said Michael Osterman, principal of Osterman Research in Black Diamond, Wash.
“The good news is that leading archiving vendors such as LiveOffice are tailoring their product enhancement roadmaps to meet these challenges and working together with companies to make sure their message management needs are met in all areas,” Osterman said.
LiveOffice has more than 750 AdvisorMail customers, Cilva said. Mail Recovery and Mailbox Management are available now as options with AdvisorMail; pricing for the new features begins at $100 per month, based on the number of e-mail addresses.
Pricing for AdvisorMail begins at $2,500 annually.
