McData announced Nov. 28 that it has released four new professional services focused on improving enterprises mainframe environments.
The new services of the Broomfield, Colo.-based provider of storage networking solutions aim to help enterprises adjust, arrange, deploy and optimize their mainframe infrastructure, giving companies a way to meet the challenge of data retention and protection.
“McData provides customers with a complete mainframe solution offering, including a complete line of fiber connection [FICON] switching products, enterprise systems connections [ESCON] and FICON extension products, integrated management software, bandwidth services as well as professional and support services,” said Todd Oseth, chief operating officer of McData, in a company release.
The four new services being offered by McData were developed in an effort to help mainframe customers by giving them a more granular operational window into the environment, which would help enterprises analyze and plan new FICON deployments more effectively.
McDatas new services will offer the following to enterprises:
- Mainframe infrastructure return on investment analysis: This feature will allow businesses to comprehend the benefits and financial return of a FICON technology migration, upgrade or expansion before committing to the investment.
- Mainframe storage Healthcheck: This will provide enterprises detailed metrics about how their mainframe storage infrastructure is performing and also points out how to improve its performance.
- Advanced mainframe infrastructure seminar: Will provide enterprises the opportunity to understand the latest advancements and best practices in FICON technology.
- Mainframe infrastructure ESCON to FICON migration implementation services: Allows businesses to leverage the experience of McData mainframe experts to make sure that the company chooses the right deployment method to allow for a smooth transition to FICON.
“This new suite of consulting, implementation and education services augments McDatas broad mainframe solution portfolio and allows customers to leverage our more than two decades of mainframe experience,” Oseth said.
McDatas new mainframe professional service offerings are available now throughout North America and will be available worldwide during the first half of 2007. Pricing of the new services will depend on which service an enterprise wants to use.
