Intel Corp. recently debuted a batch of optical transceivers that could double the speed of current Fibre Channel storage systems without significantly increasing costs, the company said.
The company said its new Intel TXN31015 and TXN31115 transceivers are aimed at applications that handle video and graphics applications as well as new requirements for increased document retention and security.
The two new 4Gbps optical transceivers will be offered to vendors of host bus adapters (HBAs), switches and Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) storage.
