EMC Expands Support of SAP
EMC Corp., of Hopkinton, Mass., has announced SAP-compatible versions of several of its products, including DatabaseXtender for SAP R/3 database archiving software and the new Automated BRBACKUP Replication for SAP Solutions.
In return, SAP has certified the EMC Centera CAS (content addressed storage) and Xythos Webfile Server 4.3 for SAPs new data archiving service using the WebDAV protocol.
The goal of the cross-compatibility effort, said Howard Elias, EMCs executive vice president of corporate marketing, is to help SAP users more effectively deploy an ILM (information lifecycle management) strategy across the enterprise.

DPS Introduces EzRaid
Data Protection Solutions, of Hollywood, Fla., has introduced a 3.5-inch SATA (Serial ATA) product that writes new data simultaneously to two drives and notifies users while switching operations to a mirrored hard drive in the event of a hard drive failure.
The EzRaid DD4 SATA product allows users to connect up to two STAA drives and a system motherboard to the companys EzRaid DD4 SATA controller and can mount into any 3.5- or 5.25-inch drive bay. The product also offers the EzRaid management utility, which allows users to monitor and tune systems performance.

Toshiba Technology to Power iStor GigaStorATX
Network storage controller vendor iStor Networks Inc., of Irvine, Calif., has chosen to embed Toshiba Corp.s 0.13-micron processor technology in its GigaStorATX storage controller solution for SAN (storage area network) over IP.
By using Toshibas SoC (system-on-chip) technology, iStor expects to be able to reduce the cost per gigabyte of storage and ensure predictable development and delivery, according to iStor President Simon Huang.

AMCC Introduces RAID Controllers
Applied Micro Circuits Corp., of Sunnyvale, Calif., has introduced a line of hardware RAID controllers that offer RAID 5 writes at more than 380MB per second and RAID 5 reads at more than 800MB per second.
The 3ware 9550S, which comes in four-port and eight-port versions, also offers 3GB/sec wire speeds, NCQ (Native Command Queuing) support, and capacity expansion and failover capabilities. The line of RAID controllers also supports the new Serial ATA 2.5 specification on a PCI-X platform.

Engenio Certifies McData 4GB Fibre Channel Switches
Engenio Information Technologies Inc., of Milpitas, Calif., has certified that the McData Sphereon 4400 and Sphereon 4700 FB Fibre Channel switches are compatible with the Engenio 6998 4GB/sec Fibre Channel storage system.

LSI Logics MegaRAID Ultra320 Supports Solaris 10
The entire line of MegaRAID systems and software from LSI Logic Corp. of Milpitas, Calif., soon will be compatible with Sun Microsystems Inc.s Solaris 10 operating system for x64/x86.
The agreement builds on the existing compatibility between the dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI PCI-X MegaRAID adapter and the Solaris 10 operating system.
