Symantec Corp. next week will announce the formation of its Enterprise Administration Business Unit. This new group will spearhead the companys initiative to combine new and existing products that address storage, systems and security management.

At the Storage Networking World conference last week, the company demonstrated Version 2.0 of V2i, its data protection application originally introduced by PowerQuest. V2i can perform “hot” backups without interrupting users or applications. The programs snapshot implementation can compress an entire volume into a single file while still allowing users to view, copy and restore individual folders and files stored within the compressed volume.
