Veritas Software Corp. on Monday made a number of announcements, including the release of its data life-cycle management tool; several new partnerships and the opening of a marketing storefront office in New York.
The company released its Data Lifecycle Manager 5.0 software, which lets users automate the management of files and e-mail message data using policy-driven retention, migration and deletion processes. The software can index historical backup information from the Veritass NetBackup software, allowing a single search to access multiple years-worth of files, comprising several terabytes of data.
“Customers are faced with nonstop data growth, limited IT budgets and new government and industry regulations that require them to retain, track, locate and retrieve growing amounts of information, and document these processes,” said Brenda Zawatski, vice president of product marketing, in a statement. She pointed to an alliance program that “offers customers ways to centrally manage a broad range of data formats, helping them achieve regulatory compliance while controlling IT costs.”
