XOsoft on April 24 will unveil a number of feature enhancements to the management and deployment modules for its WANSync application availability software.
Broadening WANSyncs appeal, the upgrade extends platform and application support toward Linux, 64-bit systems, Microsoft IIS and BlackBerry devices.
Currently available, WANSync v.4.0 provides reconfigured management and deployment modules that are specifically tailored to reduce complexity and manual intervention for customers around disk-based backup operations.
These are a new wizard for task-oriented installation, simplified remote installation from one-to-many across hundreds of servers at once, and remote configuration capabilities.
Platforms support for the WANSync software has been opened up to include Red Hat Linux and 64-bit computing environments, according to Gil Rapaport, executive vice-president of Marketing and Strategy for Waltham, Mass-based XOSoft.
Jumping on the rush by many storage vendors determined to beef up their CDP (continuous data protection) offerings, XOsoft on April 24 will announce new CDP support for Unix.
The move gives the company an integrated high-availability disaster recovery CDP underpinning for its software.
In consideration of Web servers relationship with application availability demands, WANSync 4.0 provides support for Microsofts IIS (Internet Information Services).
According to Rapaport, the upgrade centers on easing configuration woes of multi-server and site-failover for IIS deployments.
The product also introduces support of BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
This should enable a smooth transition of BlackBerry functionality and availability toward a pre-determined disaster recovery scenario and business continuity plan in the event of an outage or unplanned downtime.
