Desktop virtualization specialist NComputing announced enhancements to its vSpace desktop and application virtualization platform, which was first announced last December and provides an integrated, end-to-end solution enabling users to securely work from anywhere on a wide variety of devices.
Designed for simplified manageability, increased scalability, a rich user experience and cost-optimized to maximize IT budgets and technology investments, the VSpace platform enhancements include the ability to manage multiple vSpace Server environments from a single vSpace Management Center interface.
In addition, vSpace Server 7.0 for Windows is designed to offer a richer user experience by incorporating performance improvements for USB-based peripherals and support for devices such as Webcams. This update also includes direct access and management of secure smart cards used in conjunction with NComputing L Series and M-Series thin client devices connected to vSpace Server 7.0-powered virtualization environments.
For organizations deploying NComputing thin client devices connected to vSpace Server 7.0, vSpace Management Center offers a scalable, single point of device management. A Web-based console lets IT administrators manage L300 and M300 devices and vSpace Server 7.0 instances from anywhere and at anytime.
The company also rolled out vSpace Standard and Premium software support and subscription programs. Each of the packages offer enhanced levels of access to software upgrades and NComputing support. The Standard Support package provides access to software upgrades and unlimited email or phone support during local business hours.
Aimed at customers with complex environments or who need NComputing support always on hand, the Premium Support package delivers regular software upgrades, enhanced response times and year-round access to NComputing support.
The company noted the Standard and Premium software support and subscription programs are available for three of the software-related offerings, as well as extended warranty programs for NComputing thin client devices.
Thin client devices from NComputing start at $133 per seat and include licensing for dedicated vSpace Server access, while vSpace software clients (vSpace Client for Windows) start at $499 for a five concurrent user license ($99 per concurrent user). The vSpace Management Center is offered as a centralized management option, priced at $25 per managed NComputing thin client device.
NComputing’s products are aimed at removing desktop virtualization adoption barriers by providing solutions for high priority IT initiatives including mobility, bring your own device (BYOD) and migration to Windows 7 and Windows 8. A company release noted the vSpace platform has been deployed by more than 50,000 customers and is used daily by more than 20 million users.
