HP Services on Monday announced it has signed multiple services contracts valued in excess of $120 million.
The wins, primarily overseas and in the outsourcing arena, are with Agere Systems, the City of Espoo in Finland, the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Sonera Corporation and Tata Steel in India.
HP Services, in most cases, won out over primary competitors IBM Global Services and EDS for the contracts. Although IBM Global Services reported a fall-off in its outsourcing business last week, HPS has seen no such decline, according to Juergen Rottler, vice president of strategies, alliances and marketing for HPS in Mountain View, Calif.
“Were not seeing any slowdown. The mix of geographical spread of these deals is quite encouraging,” said Rottler, who added that several of the deals originated from both the former Compaq Global Services and HP Services organizations.
Agere Systems managed services contract with HP Services calls for improving operational efficiencies in its data centers over a three-year period. Despite IBM Global Services existing relationship with Agere, HP Services picked up the extension, according to Rottler.
Some 300 consultants and engineers will be dedicated to a far-reaching, 30-month IT Professional Services Arrangement with the Hong Gong SAR Government to provide systems integration, network infrastructure, office systems, Web development and security management services.
The combination of HP Services with Compaq Global Services capabilities helped HP to win the three-year managed services contract with the City of Espoo in Finland, Rottler said. HPS will manage the citys high-tech center infrastructure, including maintenance and management of the network and servers, onsite support and security services. HP will also provide help desk support.
HP Services will build out a “new generation of trading systems” for the Shanghai Stock Exchange; manage the IT infrastructure of Indias Tata Steel; and extend its relationship with Sonera Corp. to manage not only its four data centers but also “expand our HP branded marketing of some of their mobility enabled eServices in the UK, Germany and Finland,” said Rottler.
