Palm Inc. on Monday stepped closer to splitting into separate hardware and software companies by appointing a founding board of directors for PalmSource Inc., the companys software subsidiary.
Eric Benhamou, chairman of the board of PalmSource, Inc. and interim chairman and chief executive officer of Palm, Inc., and David Nagel, PalmSource president and chief executive officer, will by joined by the following members of the by the following members of the technology community: Satjiv S. Chahil, chief marketing officer of Palm Inc.; Robert Finocchio, a private investor and the former CEO of Informix Corp.; and Jean-Louis Gassee, president and CEO of Computer Access Technology Corp. and former head of Be Inc. Palm acquired the assets of Be last year.
Meanwhile, Palm is expected this week to announce that the company is promoting Todd Bradley, president of the Solutions Group hardware division, to CEO of the division, according to published reports and sources close to the company. Bradley, formerly the executive vice president of global operations at Gateway Inc., was named president last month. He had been acting as chief operating officer at Palm since Carl Yankowski left the CEO post last fall. Bradley joined Palm in June 2001.
