ASP services aggregator Jamcracker Inc. next week will launch the next generation of its applications platform for mid-market subscription services and will make its first foray into selling the platform as a product.

Jamcracker Enterprise 3, a Web-based services platform based on XML, now addresses enterprises looking to deploy portal projects as well as service providers looking to sell and support Web-based services.

The platform was redesigned to help reduce costs, increase revenues or improve customer satisfaction, officials said.

The Cupertino, Calif. firm at the same time will announce the addition of five new services to its Jamcracker Applications Network, a catalog of some 30 certified IT services and Web applications integrated with Jamcracker Enterprise. The network is intended to augment or replace an application or service provided by enterprise IT departments.

The new services include Managed Services for Oracle and Siebel from Avasta Inc., Concur Expense from Concur Technologies Inc., ProcureEdge and SourceEdge from Core Harbor, Performance Management Service from Perform.com and Saba Learning Enterprise Editon from Saba.

In looking to sell the platform directly to end users, Jamcracker will move beyond the small and midsize customers it traditionally targeted. The fiirm will instead aim for larger enterprises looking to deploy portals to their user base. For example, a large insurance company looking to deliver a portal that provides access to a series of sales applications for agents could use the platform to provide such access in a secure and integrated way.

The new release adds LDAP directory synchronization services, an enhanced portal for greater personalization and customization, improved security and rules-based provisioning.

Telus Communications Inc., Canadas second largest telco, uses the platform in its ASP business. The latest release of the platform with its enhanced portal may help to eliminate barriers to new customer wins, said Michael LaPalme, assistant vice president for ASP Solutions in Toronto.

Version 3 of the platform is available now.
