MPC Computers is targeting government and midmarket customers with its newest NetFrame server, the dual-processor 4620.
The system runs the latest Xeon processors from Intel, which includes the chip makers EM64T technology. That will enable the server to run both 32- and 64-bit applications.
In addition, the 4620 includes Intels 7520 chip set, up to 16GB of DDR2 (double data rate 2) memory and PCI Express support, which offers more than three times the bandwidth of PCI slots, according to MPC officials.
The system also features dual Gigabit Ethernet capabilities and up to 10 hot-swappable SCSI or six Serial ATA drives.
Available in a pedestal configuration or in a 5U (8.75-inch) chassis, the 4620 is priced starting at $2,999.
