AmberPoint Inc. expanded its Web services management solution by unveiling on Monday its plans for a new version of its solution for the Microsoft .Net environment.

Oakland, Calif.-based AmberPoint announced its plans to work with Microsoft to deliver a .Net version of it AmberPoint Management Foundation, the companys Web services management solution, which already supports the Java environment.

AmberPoint officials said the .Net version of its product features components that run native C# and that support the Microsoft Common Language Runtime.

“To fully meet market requirements, Web services solutions must deliver performance thats optimized for both .Net and J2EE [Java 2 Enterprise Edition],” said Paul Butterworth, AmberPoints chief technical officer, in a statement.

AmberPoint said the .Net version of its product will be available in December and will feature support for .Net encryption and authentication for enhanced security, as well as performance optimized for the .Net environment.

Daryl Plummer, group vice president and research general manager of Software Infrastructure at Gartner Inc., said in a statement, “Virtually every company deploying an enterprise Web services system will require cross-platform interoperability, particularly as those systems reach out beyond the four walls of the company.” Plummer also said he believes Web services management solutions must work in both J2EE and .Net environments.

In other news AmberPoint announced the close of a $13.6 million round of funding, bringing the amount of venture capital the company has secured to $22.6 million, said company officials.
