Appery.io Surpasses 250K Users, Adds App Sharing, More

Appery, which markets Appery.io, a low-code platform for rapid development of cross-device applications, this week announced that more than a quarter million developers are now using its technology.

Company officials said they believe the success of Appery.io is proof that developers and enterprises find value in an agile cloud-based, low-code, end-to-end platform with an enterprise-grade back end server.

Fima Katz, CEO of Appery, said exceeding 250,000 developers on Appery.io is a huge milestone and the company is glad to be sharing it with each of their customers—from large enterprises to small development teams.

“We are equally excited to announce the newest features from Appery.io, which solidify our commitment to advancing and simplifying mobile app development,” Katz said. “We’re confident that our technology will continue to increase developer productivity, lower the skills barrier, and accelerate innovation.”

Along with this milestone of more than 250,000 users, Appery.io also announced new capabilities to simplify the way users login and test mobile applications on devices, including Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and social network identity support and on-device app sharing without app stores.

Most mobile apps require users to create new login credentials every time they install an app. This cumbersome process often compromises security and creates yet another password to remember. Appery has empowered developers to add LDAP or social network identity for user authentication into their apps. This enables end users to sign in with an existing Facebook, Google, or Twitter account, or go through a trusted and secure LDAP enterprise directory. Both methods allow end users access to multiple apps with a single sign-on for a more secure and convenient experience. To make things even easier, Appery offers out-of-the-box integration for both of these capabilities with no coding required.

With the Appery on-device app sharing without the need of an app store, developers can share their apps with anyone without having to submit each new test version to a store. This feature simplifies how developers demo or preview their apps with a customer, client or team member. If users install the free Appery.io Tester App and enter the code provided by the developer, they can run the app on device and provide feedback throughout the development process.

These enhancements follow Appery.io’s recent partnership with Ionic, which enables developers to build hybrid mobile apps that provide the same user experience of a native application. This partnership closed the gap between native and hybrid mobile applications for the enterprise.

In July, Appery announced that it was integrating Drifty’s Ionic SDK with Appery.io. The Ionic SDK is an HTML5 hybrid app development SDK that empowers developers to create HTML5 hybrid apps with the performance and usability of native applications. The integration of the Ionic SDK obviates the need to build fully native apps in the enterprise.

For years, developers had to make a choice. If they wanted to create apps that worked across multiple device types—Android, IOS, and Windows—HTML5 or hybrid mobile apps could be deployed quickly, easily, and at a relatively low cost, but forced developers to sacrifice the user experience (UX) consumers expect.

Alternatively, native apps provided a more dynamic experience unique to the device and operating system, but were expensive and took time to build for each platform. By integrating the Ionic SDK into Appery.io, developers no longer have to compromise when creating apps for the enterprise and can build HTML5/hybrid apps on a single code base that offer a native UX across all platforms.

In addition, because of the low-code nature of the Appery.io platform, it also lowers the skills barrier, empowering a broader base of developers and business analysts to create effective and intuitive mobile applications.

“Appery has integrated Ionic into its Appery.io platform to give developers access to a powerful way to create native user experiences with HTML5 technologies,” said Max Lynch, CEO of Ionic, in a statement. “When strong companies like Appery support the web stack, we all win.”

Lynch said Appery.io, with its support for Apache Cordova, Bootstrap, AngularJS, and jQuery Mobile, was already a solid choice for building hybrid and responsive Web apps quickly and easily. However, Ionic makes it even stronger. Ionic is an open source SDK that supports a broad range of common mobile components, animations and designs. By adopting the Ionic SDK, Appery.io is hoping to drive HTML and hybrid apps forward in the enterprise.
