Open architecture J2EE continues to grow in popularity, and ProActivity Inc., which makes business process analysis software, doesnt plan to be left behind. The Newton, Mass., company in December announced an upgrade to its namesake platform, ProActivity Version 4.0, that features an open component-based architecture based on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition specification. The upgrade features a separation of client, server and database layers to provide flexibility and increased scalability, according to officials.
New reporting engine The 4.0 beta boasts a new reporting engine that generates graphical views; reports; and analysis of business processes, systems, interfaces and roles. ProActivity offers enhanced project support that enables cross-project integration of business objects, diagrams and reports. A stab at plug-and-play integration, the platform enables the definition and export of system requirements in Unified Modeling Language, XML, Microsoft Office or Microsoft Project formats that will further automate the development of downstream development activities, officials said.
Due in first quarter The full production model of 4.0 is expected to ship in the first quarter of next year, which is when ProActivity will announce pricing.
