Cisco Systems last week introduced a phone designed to run on 802.11b-based wireless LANs. The Cisco Wireless IP Phone 7920 has a range of 500 to 1,000 feet from the access point, depending on the environment, said Cisco officials.
The phone works with Ciscos Aironet line of access points and is compatible with Ciscos CallManager software. It is protected by several security protocols. The phone weighs 4.8 ounces and offers a 128-by-80-pixel display. It will be available next month for $595, officials said.
