Hewlett-Packard has moved into a new partnership with a company from which it has been buying services for several months: Workday.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based IT giant on June 17 launched HP Enterprise Applications Services for Workday, a new service option to help its clients maximize the business value of Workday Human Capital Management applications.

The idea is to enable enterprises that are planning to modernize existing human-resources applications to transition legacy, server-based computing platforms to the cloud. Cloud-based HR, among many other enterprise apps, has been shown to reduce costs and streamline hiring and payroll processes.

Workday HCM is a mobile-enabled system of record, delivered through a cloud service, that enables organizations to make faster decisions, gain better operational visibility, prepare for future talent shifts and build effective teams.

“We’re now a certified implementation partner of Workday, and we’re also a customer of Workday–we’re actually their single largest customer,” Claude Ferguson, HP vice president of Enterprise Services and the lead administrator on the Workday partnership, told eWEEK. “We went live for all 300,000 HP employees in 100 countries globally in a big-bang fashion on March 23. So we’ve been in production for about three months.

“That work has formed the foundation for our market-facing consulting practice. Our go-to-market strategy has leveraged the experience we gained from that huge implementation.”

HP’s new Enterprise Applications Services for Workday encompass all elements of an organization’s Workday deployment–including functional configuration, technology integration and program management–to cut costs and better manage human resources.

The new services will rely on HP’s growing number of Workday-certified consultants, as well as its expertise in cloud computing, mobile computing, reporting and analytics, and big data, Ferguson said.

HP Enterprise Applications Services for Workday are available now worldwide, Ferguson said.
