Hewlett-Packard has entered into a partnership with Workday Human Capital Management applications, which is a mobile-enabled system delivered through a cloud service, to help organizations make faster decisions, get better operational visibility, prepare for future talent shifts and build effective teams.

HP has now launched HP Enterprise Applications Services for Workday, with the goal of enabling enterprises to modernize existing human-resources applications by moving them to the cloud. Cloud-based HR has been shown to help reduce costs and streamline hiring and payroll processes.

AT&T recently confirmed that the company experienced an insider data breach that exposed customer birth dates and Social Security numbers. Now, there is reason to believe that this breach may be more serious than past ones.

Girish Bhat, director of product marketing for Wave Systems, said that while threats from insiders are nothing new, the fact that these hackers were jail-breaking locked AT&T phones so that they can be resold is surprising.

Joe DeMesy, security associate at Bishop Fox, added that companies are sometimes cavalier with customers’ personal data, and that he is surprised this hasn’t happened sooner.

BlackBerry has introduced the first solution to come out of the eBBM Suite it introduced at the Mobile World Congress in February, called BBM Protected. This is a family of services and products that pairs BlackBerry’s BBM messaging products with enterprise-grade security features.

BBM Protected combines Blackberry’s popular BBM messaging service with technology that protects data when it’s at rest on the device and in transit. Using BBM Protected, people in regulated industries can chat with other BBM Protected users outside their organizations.

Cisco Systems has plans to purchase Tail-f Systems, a Swedish company that creates software, to make it easier for cloud service providers and enterprises to manage multivendor networks. This is part of Cisco’s continued efforts to enhance its portfolio for cloud service providers.
