NaviSite Designs Service Packages for Integrators

NaviSite Inc. last week introduced its effort to move beyond the commodity hosting business with a set of new packages designed to be delivered through systems integrators and resellers.

The packaged services in the Always On Advantage Series are intended to be combined with heavily customized applications from companies such as Siebel Systems Inc., Oracle Corp. or PeopleSoft Inc. and then resold to customers, according to company officials in Houston.

NaviSite sees the new offerings as an alternative to the prevailing approach of custom building such services. With the new packages, integrators will have efficient, repeatable processes that can still be fine-tuned for individual customers, officials said.

The managed services packages are designed for regional systems integrators and midsize companies. Overall, however, NaviSite intends to continue selling its managed services to customers that want to deal directly with NaviSite, and it will continue to pursue partnerships with large vendors such as Compaq Computer Corp., which has an equity stake in the management service provider.

Unlike its competitors, NaviSite will provide management up through the applications stack to take on managing Oracle, PeopleSoft and other enterprise-class applications.

“We do monitoring, end-user support, patches, help desk, change management, new releases, trouble-shooting and resolution,” said Sydney Kuo, NaviSite product business unit manager, in Andover, Mass. “In conjunction with hosting services, we are providing end-to-end services, from Internet connectivity to network and database and application management.”

The service packages also provide reporting through the NaviSite portal. Systems integrators can sell the service packages directly, package their own services and/or applications on top of them, or embed the NaviSite services as elements of their own private-label services, officials said.

The offerings are available now and cost from $1,600 per month up to $24,000 per month, depending on configuration.
