LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. – Novient Inc. on Thursday expanded its stable of tools with a new suite thats designed to make better use of human resources within an internal professional services group.

The Atlanta software developers new Novient nSight, announced here at the Gartner Symposium, addresses the complexity of managing the services arm of large organizations.

Specifically, nSight enables the automated and optimized deployment of a services workforce by prioritizing project demand, matching skilled professionals to appropriate projects, and pricing services based on demand elasticity. It allows users to weigh parameters such as utilization, operating profit, revenue, customer satisfaction and employee preferences when making project-based decisions.

The suite provides service process optimization through a series of “what if” scenarios. The results of those scenarios enable users to deploy service professionals in a way that lines up with strategic business goals.

By Novients reckoning, Service Process Automation goes farther than existing Professional Services Automation tools. For example, it can include internal IT departments within an enterprise; the IT professional services operation of an IT products company; or the professional services unit of a utility or telecommunications company.

“The service economy has never been automated,” said Halsey Wise, CEO of the six-year-old Novient.

Arthur Andersen LLP has created a services practices around the Novient software to help put in place a process that optimizes the allocation of services professionals. With what the company calls the Strategic Agility Offering, Andersen found that a major portion of one clients budget was spent on redundant projects, according to Andersens David Connolly, partner of strategic agility in San Jose, Calif. In addition, Andersen found with the Novient software and its service that the client could save $270 million over four years.

Novient nSight will be available early next year.
