Siebel Systems Inc. and IBM announced Thursday that the two companies will jointly offer a hosted customer relationship management service to be known as Siebel CRM OnDemand.

The two companies will team up to develop, market and deliver the service, which will be priced at $70 per user per month.

The service will be used to manage contacts, sales opportunities, products, prices, competitors, events, marketing campaigns and customer service requests and is being positioned as an easier to use and faster to deploy alternative to licensed software. Siebel is the market leader in licensed CRM software.

It will be jointly sold and marketed to small and medium-sized businesses. The companies plan a multimillion-dollar integrated marketing campaign as well.

The companies describe the software offering as “enterprise-class” and promise integration and automatic migration to licensed Siebel applications. IBM Global Services will provide the hosting services.

“IBM and Siebel have a long-standing partnership successfully delivering CRM solutions to more than 1,000 successful customers,” said Siebel Systems CEO Tom Siebel in a statement. “Now, we are bringing proven CRM to a new class of users in a dramatically faster, easier, and more affordable way.”

IBM and Siebel have had a joint marketing partnership since 1999 and signed a joint development agreement last January.

Siebel CRM OnDemand will be available this quarter. Customers will be able to try it for free for 30 days.
