BMC Software Inc. recently jumped into the e-commerce management void with a new version of its Patrol application monitoring and management software for Ariba Inc.s Ariba Buyer.

The tool from the Houston company provides monitoring of the e-procurement application as well as connections between Ariba Buyer and its database, Web servers and enterprise resource planning software.

Monitored links between Ariba Buyer and catalogs can be internal, at a vendor site or on an e-marketplace.

When Patrol detects outages or performance problems, it generates real-time reports that include diagnostic information to help administrators speed resolution.

Patrol for Ariba Buyer will be available next month.
