In a variation on the traditional disaster recovery services industry, managed services provider InterOps Inc. recently added an as-needed management rollover and backup support service for Internet operations centers.
The new Internet Management Continuity Service offers a cheaper, six-figure alternative to disaster recovery services that typically cost several million dollars, according to officials with the Medford, Mass., company.
InterOps, which focuses on Internet operations support services for large enterprises, is leveraging its ViewPoints Web site monitoring and management service for the new offering.
The Management Continuity Service is triggered by unplanned events such as a disaster. InterOps immediately takes on such responsibilities as problem identification and resolution. The service also includes issue management documentation and reporting, change management support, and coverage for third-party dynamic data links.
FRM Corp.s Fidelity Investments, which funded the startup, is one of the first customers to sign up for the service.
The cost of the service depends on the level and depth of InterOps responsibility as well as the size and complexity of the infrastructure to be managed.
