Acer has announced two new 2-in-1 Switch notebook computers, adding the Switch V 10 and the Switch One 10 to its expanding Switch notebook lineup. The company also unveiled 14-inch and 15.6-inch Acer TravelMate P2 series business laptops.

Both Switch machines, which feature 10.1-inch multitouch In-Plane Switching (IPS) displays, Intel Atom quad-core processors and precision touchpads and run on the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system, were unveiled by Acer on May 27. Both are full-featured notebook machines that can be disconnected from their keyboards and used as tablets.

The Acer Switch V 10

The Switch V 10 (pictured), which can be purchased with 32GB or 64GB of storage, includes a metal outer cover, a USB Type-C port for video output and charging, and an all-new antimicrobial-treated Corning Gorilla Glass cover. It also features dual-band MIMO 802.11ac WiFi and a built-in fingerprint reader that lets users securely sign in using Windows Hello for instant access. In addition, the touch screen of the Switch V 10 can be used by owners to take notes, write, draw and highlight on Web pages using Microsoft Edge.

The machine also includes Acer’s Snap Hinge latchless magnetic mechanism that lets users position the device into four different modes—notebook, pad, tent and display— by opening, folding and repositioning it. The Switch V 10 is aimed at students, families and young professionals and is available in five colors: Pearl White, Shale Black, Coral Red, Peacock Blue or Navy Blue.

Also included in the Switch V 10 are dual cameras and battery life of up to about 9 hours per charge, according to Acer.

The Acer Switch One 10

The Switch One 10 is aimed at families and budget-conscious buyers who want a full-featured notebook and tablet device that can be used for productivity and entertainment purposes, according to Acer. The Switch One 10 features a dark-gray brushed metal cover and an HD touch-screen display, as well as a fingerprint reader, four device mode capabilities and a latchless magnetic hinge between the tablet and keyboard components of the notebook. Featured in the Switch One 10 are dual cameras and up to 8 hours of battery power per charge.

The Switch V 10 will be available in North America in the third quarter of 2016 starting at $249, while the Switch One 10 will be available in North America in July starting at $199.

The latest Acer TravelMate P2 business laptops feature the latest Intel sixth-generation Intel Core processors, DDR4 memory, Nvidia GeForce 940M graphics and Windows 10 in a choice of 14-inch or 15.6-inch full HD display sizes. Both the TravelMate P249 and TravelMate P259 offer optional built-in fingerprint readers for instant and secure user log-ins. Both are covered with a stylish, scratch-resistant, non-slip, textile pattern cover. The machines are certified for Skype for Business and include Acer TrueHarmony audio and dual stereo speakers. The TravelMate P2 models will be available in North America later this year starting at $599.

In April, Acer unveiled several other new machines at a global announcement event in New York City, including a liquid-cooled Switch Alpha 12 2-in-1 notebook that starts at $599, an Aspire S 13 notebook, the Aspire R 15 notebook, the commercial TravelMate P658 notebook, the Chromebook 14 for Work, the Predator 17 X gaming notebook and the Predator G1 desktop machine as well as accessory docks and related accessories.
