LeEco Le Pro3 and Le S3 Smartphones to Go on Sale in U.S.

Chinese smartphone maker LeEco will begin selling its Le Pro3 and its midmarket Le S3 models in the United States. Here’s a look at the handsets’ key features.

The $399 LeEco Le Pro3 Smartphone

The flagship Le Pro3 handset features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) touch-screen display that’s covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for durability, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of memory and 64GB of on-board storage.

An Unlocked Smartphone for GSM Networks

Both LeEco smartphones are unlocked, allowing owners to use them on the networks of many GSM mobile carriers, whenever they choose to switch carriers. The Le Pro3 handset includes 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 and Near Field Communication (NFC) connectivity, as well as LeEco’s own “Ecosystem User Interface” (EUI) overlay of Android, giving users access to Android apps, entertainment, games and content. EUI also provides seamless navigation between the phone and other LeEco smart devices, such as bicycles, televisions and headphones.

Premium Audio Features

The Le Pro3 includes dual speakers and surround sound that is powered by Dolby Atmos and Continual Digital Lossless Audio (CDLA) technology. The handset has a USB-C audio output and includes a set of USB-C earphones and a phone case.

Built-In Fingerprint Recognition

For user and device security, the Le Pro3 also includes intelligent fingerprint recognition using a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that can accurately scan a fingerprint in as little as 0.5 seconds. The handset is 5.96 inches long, 2.90 inches wide and 029 inches thick, and weighs 6.24 ounces.

16MP Main Rear Camera

For photo buffs, the Le Pro3 smartphone includes a 16-megapixel rear-facing main camera that features dual-LED rear flash and eight customizable filters to modify photographs. The handset also includes an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and 4K video capabilities.

High-Quality 4K Video

The built-in 4K ultra HD video capture capabilities include a slow-motion feature and allow users to produce videos of all subjects with natural colors in high quality.

Long-Life Battery and Quick Charging

Powering the Le Pro3 is a 4,070mAh Li-ion battery that provides an estimated 318 hours of standby time. The handset also includes Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 capabilities, which let users rapidly recharge their phones.

Android Pay Capable

The built-in NFC feature allows users to make secure Android Pay transactions with their handsets and the Android Pay mobile app, enabling purchases wherever the pay service is accepted. The handset also allows users to share video using Android Beam or play music wirelessly using NFC-enabled external speakers.

Le Pro3: Lightweight Design, Choice of Colors

The Le Pro3 has an aluminum unibody and a brushed-metal back. The phone’s lightweight aluminum chassis protects the internal electronics from impact and the elements and helps the phone to run cooler by wicking away heat, the company said. The Le Pro3 comes in gold or gray and includes a three-month free EcoPass membership.

The $249 LeEco Le S3 Smartphone

The other U.S.-bound LeEco smartphone, the mid-priced Le S3, features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080 x 1920) touch-screen display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB of memory, 32GB of on-board storage, a 16-megapixel main rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera and a built-in fingerprint scanner. The Le S3 also includes an all-metal unibody, Dolby Atmos sound, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, a USB-C connector and a 3,000mAh L-ion battery with quick-charging capabilities. The handset is 5.95 inches long, 2.02 inches wide and 0.29 inches thick, and weighs 5.40 ounces. The Le S3, which comes with a set of USB-C headphones and a phone case, is available in gold, gray or rose-gold, and includes a three-month EcoPass membership.
