Why Samsung’s Big-Screen Galaxy View Will Appeal to TV, Movie Lovers

The new mobile entertainment tablet, which retails for $599.99, lets consumers watch their favorite movies and videos almost anywhere on an 18.4-inch screen.

The big-screen 18.4-inch Galaxy View features a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7580 processor, 2GB of memory, 32GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot that accepts storage cards of up to 128GB.

The Galaxy View is built around a video-optimized user interface on its touch-screen display, where consumers can choose between content offered by YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, CBS and other video content providers.

The wide range of video choices available through the Galaxy View includes movies, television programs and more. The device also includes stereo speakers for quality audio performance and a 2.1-megapixel camera.

Much larger than a traditional handheld tablet, the big-screen Galaxy View includes an integrated top-mounted carrying handle so it can be easily transported from room to room or anywhere you want to use it.

Here’s how the Galaxy View stacks up in size compared with a smaller Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet and a Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphone. The Galaxy View weighs about 5.84 pounds.

The Galaxy View is a multimedia machine that can also be used by consumers for reading news online, exploring the Internet, listening to music, playing games, making video calls and more. The View includes a customized dashboard called “Family Square” that lets users connect with friends and family members via 4G LTE or WiFi.

The Galaxy View allows users to explore the Google Play store for apps, games and more to add new uses to their devices. The machine, which runs on the Android 5.1 operating system, also includes a SIM card slot so users can bring movies with them when traveling.
