ANAHEIM, Calif.—Cisco Systems at its Networkers 07 users conference here will advance its data center networking strategy by outlining its idea of what a next-generation data center will look like.
Calling its vision Data Center 3.0, Ciscos plan embraces trends such as data center consolidation, virtualization and automation.
Cisco will back up its vision with several new products that include the Cisco VFrame Data Center, which allows users to create an infrastructure for virtualized services from compute, storage and network resource pools. Its aim is to help speed new applications deployment.
In the storage arena, Cisco will integrate storage media encryption into its Storage Area Network fabrics. In addition, Cisco will launch the MDS 9222i Multiservice Modular Switch, aimed at the deployment of SAN extensions, intelligent fabric services and multiprotocol connectivity for departments and remote offices.
As part of its vision, Cisco will also introduce new security functions for its WAAS (Wide Area Application Services) application acceleration appliances.
New services offerings that support Ciscos vision include a new testing program that allows customers to design, implement and operate a data center network infrastructure outside of their own production facilities. It is called the Cisco Data Center Assurance Program.
