A startup is looking to bring the high-availability capabilities of the telecommunications industry to the server management field.
Symbium last week launched its flagship product, Intelligent Secure Autonomic Controller, or ISAC. The software lets users autonomically manage host servers, operating systems and applications based on policies. ISAC runs on an embedded computer connected via a PCI or PCI-X slot on the host server.
Modules enable ISAC to perform such tasks as real-time fault recovery, task blocking and maintenance scheduling. Symbium also offers a stand-alone management console application, enabling users to centrally control multiple ISAC deployments.
A version of ISAC for Windows environments is available now. Symbium is developing a version for Linux.
