The HitBox Commerce service that WebSideStory launched this month correlates Web site use with purchasing activity so that store managers can see which Web site paths turn window shoppers into paying customers.

Prices start at $1,500 per month for up to 10,000 tracked purchases.

To use the service, IT staffers integrate a small amount of WebSideStory code into their purchase confirmation page. This code sends payment details such as customer ID, order ID, product stock-keeping unit number and a few other figures to WebSideStorys servers.

WebSideStory then correlates this information in real time, so theres no need to analyze Web site log data files to get site statistics.

Because about 150,000 Web sites are using HitBox, WebSideStorys normal Web site analysis service, HitBox Commerce can determine which search engine or third-party site provides the most profitable customer referrals.

HitBox Commerce details can be found at www.hitboxcommerce.com.
