Microsoft’s recent Patch Tuesday update included fixes for 24 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, including one known as Sandworm.

On Oct. 21, Microsoft warned users about another CVE which abuses the same Microsoft Object Linking and Embedding technology that enables the Sandworm vulnerability. Microsoft’s OLE technology enables content to be linked inside of documents.

Security firm Symantec is warning that attackers are already exploiting the new OLE vulnerability. While Microsoft has not released a full patch for the flaw, it has released a fix to help mitigate the risk.

A group of former IBM workers have teamed up to deliver a new cognitive computing platform based on IBM’s Watson cognitive system.

Cognitive Scale recently emerged from stealth mode with a new cognitive cloud platform, four vertical industry applications, new customers, partnerships with technology titans and 22 patents.

Officials reported that company is on track to close 2014 with millions of dollars in revenue resulting from several customer contracts.

Recently, GoDaddy, a leading domain registrar and web hosting service, expanded its hosting offerings to include a new Pro level service tier that provides managed services.

GoDaddy now has two new product families for server hosting, with Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated Server offerings. GoDaddy Pro services are a refreshed version of VPS services that GoDaddy has previously offered.

There are now managed VPS and Dedicated server services where GoDaddy manages the underlying operating system and application stack for customers.

Hewlett-Packard officials are reportedly looking to sell at least 51 percent of the company’s stake in H3C Technologies, which is a China-based subsidiary HP inherited five years ago when it bought networking vendor 3Com.

Sources told The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg that HP is looking for a buyer in China, though it is unclear how much of the company HP will give up.
