The Sony RoomLink is a slender box that sits on top of your television set, serving up music, video, and photo slide shows from a Sony VAIO. Setup is easy: Plug it into your home network and television (an Ethernet network or 802.11a/Ethernet converter is required to serve video). In testing, MP3s sounded excellent on our 20-inch Sony WEGA television, and the RoomLink can play MP3 soundtracks behind slide shows. As a PVR, though, the RoomLink falls short. You cant pause live TV, change the channels on a digital cable or satellite box, or access the program guide from the television. Also, to view your existing video clips, you need to convert them into Sonys proprietary Giga Pocket format.
