LAS VEGAS—Netgear Inc. this week at the Comdex Fall 2002 show announced a line of WLAN products based on the upcoming 802.11g standard, which offers data transfer rates of up to 54M bps in the 2.4GHz radio frequency range.
The Santa Clara, Calif., company announced a PC Card, access point and router, all based on the 802.11g draft specification and all due in the first quarter of 2003.
The new line of products also will include security support for AES (advanced encryption standard) and TKIP (temporal key integrity protocol).
Netgear also has plans for a dual-band wireless access point, which will ship this December, officials said. The WAB102 Dual Band Wireless Access Point supports both 802.11b (which offers data rates of up to 11M bps in the 2.4GHz band) and 802.11a (which offers data rates of up to 54M bps in the 5GHz band.)
Netgear focuses on economical products for home office and small business users.
