Tech Datas SAN Solution

Tech Data has created a SAN bundle for solution providers looking to penetrate the SMB market. The bundle includes Brocade Communications Systems SilkWorm 3200, an eight-port Fibre Channel fabric switch; Computer Associates Internationals BrightStor ARCserve Backup v9 software; and Emulexs LP9002L host-bus adapter. The bundle is aimed at mid-size enterprises with about 500GB of storage needs.

Arcos New DupliDisk3 Mirroring Device Eliminates Data Loss and Downtime

Arco Data Protection Systems announced DupliDisk3, a hardware solution for maintaining up-to-the-minute data backups for Linux users. The DupliDisk3 is designed to handle drives as large as 131 Petabytes (131,072 Terabytes); can provide copy speeds up to 48GB per hour (800MB per minute); and supports UDMA-5 (UltraDMA 100) drives.

Lite-On IT and Quanta Storage Fight for Slim-Type Combo Drive Dominance

Lite-On IT, the worlds largest maker of DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives, said on Monday that the company aims to ship 5 million slim-type combo drives next year, threatening Quanta Storages leading position, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News. The company will kick off volume production of desktop combo drives in March, with 2003 shipments targeted at over 2 million units. In the third quarter of this year, Quanta outpaced market leader LG Electronics (LGE) and for the first time ranked as the largest combo drive supplier.

Overland Storage Announces Storage Management Alliance Program; QLogic is First Partner

Overland Storage announced its Storage Management Alliance Program, recognizing companies who have successfully completed compatibility testing with Overlands Storage Resource Manager (SRM) software. Overland SRM lets IT departments know exactly what data resides on the network, what should be saved, what can be moved to tape storage and what can be deleted. QLogic Corporation, the first Overland Storage Management Alliance Partner, is joining the program to ensure future interoperability between QLogic products and Overland SRM.
