Enterprises looking to expand customer data analysis into unstructured data will find new software to solve that business problem from Spotfire Inc. and Island Data Corp.
Unstructured data is nonnumerical data, typically text, graphics, or audio or video files. The new software deals mainly with text analysis.
This week, Spotfire, in Somerville, Mass., will announce DecisionSite Posters, an add-on to its DecisionSite suite that captures domain expertise along with analytical results. DecisionSite Posters allows users to share results of analysis from the companys flagship DecisionSite product, exchange comments on the data, and track the analysis and decision process.
Users can share expertise as they make decisions on the data. DecisionSite Posters automates this process and creates a repository where structured and unstructured data can be saved.
Agilent Technologies Inc. offers DecisionSite as part of its Synapsia Informatics Workbench for the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology industries. Francois Mandeville, business manager for Agilents Informatics Solutions Business, in Palo Alto, Calif., said DecisionSite Posters allows users to see additional context around analyzed information.”The key value proposition is that it allows our end users to share the rationality behind scientific decisions without subjecting other users to the full analytical process,” Mandeville said.
Also this week, Island Data will add to its online customer service offerings with Insight RT, which provides analysis of dialogues with customers gathered from customer service applications and customer surveys.
Insight RT analyzes customer feedback, such as from online surveys and other Web forms, e-mail messages, Web self-service applications, and customer service and sales agent transactions. This data can be integrated with customer behavioral data provided by other applications to find sales opportunities and identify trends as well as attrition risks, said Island Data officials, in Carlsbad, Calif.
