Active Decisions Inc., of Burlingame, Calif., has launched a service for e-commerce sites that helps consumers make decisions across 120 product categories.

Active Sales Assistant uses a question-and-answer format to gauge a customers preferences, then makes recommendations and product comparisons accordingly.

It can aggregate information about consumer buying habits, giving retailers and manufacturers a better understanding of what customers want.

Active Sales Assistant includes ActiveSpex, which provides product specification information and photos.

Pricing for Active Sales Assistant starts at $100,000.
