West Kingston, R.I.—American Power Conversion is bringing out a new version of its InfraStruXure line of power backup and management devices aimed at the small and midsize business market.

A company spokesperson revealed the details on this new system at a meeting at the companys headquarters here.

The new InfraStruXure is coupled with a SmartUPS VT power module of the sort already used by SMBs.

The unit comes with hot-swap battery modules and can support 20 to 30kVA of power backup capacity at 208V or 480V input.

The new version of the InfraStruXure is a preconfigured turnkey unit thats shipped ready to use.

Its mounted in a standard full-height rack that can be part of APCs In-Row cooling solution and can use APCs enterprise management tools.

However, it does not need to be part of such a solution, and its delivered to work as a stand-alone device.

Enterprise-class InfraStruXure systems are custom-designed and manufactured, intended to be a power management solution for data centers that range from merely huge to massive.

This is the first time that APC has made this product available to smaller businesses at a lower price.

Although exact pricing depends on the configuration, the Infrastruxure with SmartUPS VT is significantly less expensive than the enterprise version, according to the company.
