Small-to-midsize businesses trying to manage their networks and security better will soon have a new tool.

Mitel Networks Corp.s Network Server Solutions Group—formerly e-Smith Inc.—has released SME Server V5 with ServiceLink, a Linux-based network and security management solution also aimed at remote offices of larger businesses.

ServiceLink adds round-the-clock server monitoring and reports; virus protection with automatic updates; point-and-click, IP security virtual private networks; and DNS (Domain Name System) services to SME Server V5, which is software that can convert any PC into a network server. SME Server V5, formerly e-Smith Server and Gateway, provides firewall, e-mail, Web access and hosting, file and print sharing, and secure remote access.

SME Server V5 with ServiceLink will ship this month. Pricing starts at $175 per month with a 12-month subscription.
