NEC is planning to roll out a notebook armed with a built-in fuel cell by the end of next year that will have a battery life of 5 hours and another fuel-cell-powered notebook with a battery life of 40 hours within two years.

The company revealed the notebook earlier when it announced a new subsidiary, NEC Personal Products, which launched July 1.

The 900-gram, 12-volt methanol fuel cell offers up to 24 watts of output, according to the company.
