To give enterprises a way to ensure quick Internet content delivery, F5 Networks Inc. is updating its caching product to include a scalable management system for large distributed networks of caches.
The latest version of the Seattle companys Edge-FX Cache comes with fully integrated options for content distribution, distributed edge management and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) acceleration.
New options include Content Distributor, which enables network managers to “prepopulate” caches with files or Web pages to bring content closer to end users; Distributed Edge Management, which allows managers to synchronize and change the configuration on thousands of Edge-FX devices from a central system; and an SSL acceleration card, which enhances content security.
Basic Edge-FX starts at $5,990. Content Distributor costs $9,990, and the SSL card costs $2,490. Both will be available in January.
