Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, the joint venture between Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson and Sony Corp., last week announced its first joint product.

The Ericsson Bluetooth Handsfree HBH-20 is designed to eliminate the need for a wire between a cell phone and an earpiece by linking the two via a short-range wireless connection. The device, which is about the size of a credit card, clips onto the users clothing, and a tiny earpiece sits in the ear.

The HBH-20 is due next month. The Stockholm, Sweden, company has not outlined pricing.
