Handling the crisis

With the country battling a power crisis, American Power Conversion Corp. this month began offering a service for its remote monitoring suite.

Swapping data

The Web-based service enables users to exchange information at the network level, officials of the West Kingston, R.I., company said. When a businesss power source is coupled to an APC Web/SNMP Management Card, APCs Remote Monitoring Service can oversee that power supply.

Fixing problems

When a problem is discovered, an e-mail message is sent to APCs Network Operations Center, where staffers fix the problem. The service is available now, with prices starting at $499 per year.
