      Kano Technologies last week unveiled SureVault desktop RAID, a system creates a local mirror for data by automatically writing data simultaneously to two drives. When a disk drive fails, SureVault that software will switch operations to the secondary drive while giving a visual and audible alert. A user would next slide in a replacement Kano SureDrive. While the onboard system rebuilds the data on the new drive, the user can continue working from the secondary drive. SureVault can store as much as 600GB of data.

      Memory Makers in the xD Media Picture

      Memory card manufacturers Lexar Media and SanDisk last week announced support for the xD-Picture Card format, which was developed by Olympus, FujiFilm and Toshiba. Lexar will offer xD-Picture Cards in Lexar branding through its worldwide retail distribution and SanDisk signed a 5-year agreement to manufacture as well as sell xD-Picture Cards under the Olympus brand.

      Yosemite Enhances Channel Program For Backup Software

      Yosemite Technologies last week expanded its channel program to increase support for existing and new partners. The companys TapeWare software application comes in a variety of versions for backing up and recovering data for desktop, single-server and multiple server applications. Robert Checketts, vice president of marketing at the company, said he would not be surprised if solution providers hadnt heard of Yosemite before because the company focused mainly on OEM business until late 2001. However, in December 2001, it signed Ingram Micro as its exclusive distributor, and its December 2002 business with the distributor grew nine times over that year, he said.

      Troika Networks Raises Funding for Network Storage Applications

      Troika Networks last week announced that it raised a $13 million round of financing. Anthem Ventures Partners led the round, which included previous investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Dynafund Ventures, and Windward Ventures, as well as new investor Hamilton Apex Technology Ventures. Troika Networks develops networked storage service platforms, which customers can use to simplify the development and deployment of networked-based storage services, the company said.
